The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Madurai, one of the six new AIIMS institutions established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), has announced a critical recruitment drive for 5 Senior Resident (Non-Academic) posts under the Government of India Residency Scheme. Eligibility Criteria: Age, Education, Registration & DNB Equivalence

The upper age limit is 45 years as on November 6, 2025. Age relaxation is applicable as per Government rules:

  • OBC: 3 years
  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • PwBD: 5 years (up to 10–15 years depending on category)
  • Government Servants / Ex-Servicemen: As per DoPT guidelines

Department-Wise Essential Qualifications

  1. Pharmacology (ST-01): MD in Pharmacology from a recognized university/institute. MCI/NMC/State Medical Council registration is mandatory before joining.
  2. Obstetrics & Gynaecology (OBC-01): MD/MS/DNB in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. Valid medical council registration required.
  3. Physiology (OBC-01):
    • Medical: MD in Physiology.
    • Non-Medical: Master's in Medical Physiology + Ph.D. in Physiology from a recognized institute.
  4. Anatomy (EWS-01):
    • Medical: MD in Anatomy.
    • Non-Medical: M.Sc. (Medical Anatomy) + Ph.D. in Medical Anatomy.
  5. Otorhinolaryngology (UR-01): MS in ENT from a recognized university. Medical council registration mandatory.

Critical Note on Exam Results: The candidate must have declared results of the qualifying exam (MD/MS/DNB/MSc/PhD) on or before the closing date of application (Nov 6, 2025). Provisional appearances are allowed only if results are pending, but final eligibility depends on timely declaration.

DNB Equivalence Requirements (As per NMC Notification dated 30.06.2025)

DNB candidates must provide documentary evidence of equivalence with MD/MS/DM/MCh. The following criteria must be met:

  • Training in a hospital with 500+ beds recognized by the National Board of Examinations (OR)
  • 1 year of Senior Residency in a medical college/institute recognized by NMC as a teaching institution for that specialty.

Candidates with DNB from non-500-bed hospitals must complete the SR requirement to be eligible.

Candidates with more than 3 years of prior Senior Residency in any government institution are ineligible. Government employees must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the interview stage.

Pay Scale, Allowances & Service Conditions

Selected candidates will be appointed at Pay Level-11 (Cell-01) as per 7th CPC, with a basic pay of ₹67,700/- per month plus:

  • Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA) where applicable
  • Dearness Allowance (DA)
  • House Rent Allowance (HRA)
  • Transport Allowance

No private practice is allowed. Appointees are not entitled to PF, pension, gratuity, or promotion benefits. The appointment is full-time and governed by the Central Residency Scheme.
